Black Sheep

This is for all those who dare to stand out in a crowd. Be it in their personal life or the society we live in, they strive to do what is right and fight for their right.

“The strength of a woman is not measured by the impact that all her hardships in life have had on her; but the strength of a woman is measured by the extent of her refusal to allow those hardships to dictate her and who she becomes.” ~C. JoyBell C.

You bow down your head today,
Because you dared what others dreaded.
So that you may rise tomorrow,
Like a phoenix from the ashes.

Little can they comprehend,
From what they know of your story.
Little can they understand,
The pain of your misery.

They mark you as the Black Sheep.
Calling names, blasphemous, imbecile and cheap.
Because they fear your wild streak,
Your will to fight, a resolve so deep.

It doesn't make you bad,
Or a tad bit cold-hearted.
You waited for long,
Only to be disheartened.

You broke the norm,
Because you dreamt to awaken to a new morn.
All they said was, Obey, obey, obey!
While you rose up to speak what you have to say.

So maybe you ARE the Black Sheep,
Dark and bold,
You do not fear to stand out,
To be left alone in the cold.

What you value more,
Is the freedom of your spirit.
To break away from the shackles,
that chain you to constant silent battles.
To everything, there is a limit.

So bow down your head today,
even if you may.
Because you dare to fight,
for what you deem right.
You were born to raise your head high.
So let there be no more tears, no more sigh.
